Calgary’s Own Nick Tetz Wins Second Night of PBR Canada Touring Pro Division Competition at Grey Eagle Resort and Casino

CALGARY, Alta. – At the second night of competition for the annual Cody Snyder Charity Bullbustin’, 2022 PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Canada Champion Nick Tetz (Calgary, Alberta) rode supreme, winning the second night of Canadian Touring Pro Division competition at Grey Eagle Resort and Casino.

Tetz, who rides for the Arizona Ridge Riders in the separate PBR Teams league, drew Emerald Inn (X6 Ranch Bucking Cattle/B2 Braithwaite Ranches) as his bovine athlete opponent Wednesday evening.

Reaching the requisite 8 with ease, Tetz, who is attempting to become just the fourth multi-time PBR Canada Champion this season, was marked an event-best 88 points.

The golden finish garnered Tetz a key 38 national points. He remained No. 2 in Canada, closing within 314.5 points of No. 1 Cody Coverchuk (Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan).

Two-time PBR Canada Champion Coverchuk, however, prevented Tetz from gaining more ground by finishing second.

The Saskatchewan man’s 86.5 point-ride atop Teeka (Vold Rodeo/R Saga Ranch) earned him 28 national points.

Should Coverchuk remain atop the standings and win the 2024 Canadian Championship, he would tie Aaron Roy (Yellow Grass, Saskatchewan) for most national titles won by one rider in history with three.

Roy is in the hunt for his unprecedented fourth national title, however, he was bucked off by Redneck Rockstar (X6 Ranch Bucking Cattle/Legend Rodeo Stock) in a close 6.03 seconds Wednesday evening. The veteran is now ranked No. 14 in Canada.

Chanse Switzer (Hazenmore, Saskatchewan) was third, collecting 18 national points for his 85-point ride on Bench Warrant (X6 Ranch & Bucking Cattle/Hartman).

He rose one position in the Canadian standings, climbing from No. 10 to No. 9. He is now within 666 points of top-ranked Coverchuk.

Wyatt Gleeson (Sundre, Alberta) parlayed an 84.5-point ride on Night Stalker (X6 Ranch Bucking Cattle/B2 Braithwaite Ranches) into a fourth-place finish, garnering 15 national points.

Seeking his first PBR Canada Championship this November, Gleeson rose from No. 17 to No. 16 in the standings.

Rounding out the Top 5 in fifth was Ashton Sahli (Red Deer, Alberta).

The Albertan bested Last Flight Tonight (Skori Bucking Bulls) for 83 points. Leaving Grey Eagle Resort and Casino with 13 national points, Sahli remained No. 6 in Canada. He is now 615 points back of the No. 1 spot.

In the bull pen, Up Shift (Vold Rodeo) and Emerald Inn (X6 Ranch Bucking Cattle/B2 Braithwaite Ranches) bucked at cut above the rest, tying for the Bull of the Event honors, each marked 43 points.

Up Shift earned the points for his 1.93 seconds of work with Andrew Alvidrez (Seminole, Texas), while Emerald Inn turned heads when he and Tetz teamed for the event-winning, 88-point ride.

The 2024 PBR Canada seasons continues July 4-6 in Calgary, Alberta. Action for the Touring Pro Division’s Cody Snyder Charity Bullbustin’ at Grey Eagle Resort and Casino gets underway nightly at 7:00pm MDT.
