Making its fifth consecutive stop inside ENMAX Centre, the competition has never disappointed.
While Nick Tetz won both events in Lethbridge last season, it is Jared Parsonage who will enter the tour stop this season amid a hot streak.
Below are bullfighter Tanner Byrne’s bets for Round 1 of the event from Lethbridge. Let us know your thoughts and your picks for the Cup Series event by tagging @PBRCanada on Twitter.
Tickets are still available and can be purchased at ENMAXCentre.ca, and by phone at (403) 329-7328.
Coy Robbins vs. Flick The Switch
Coy showed what he’s capable of in Red Deer at the kickoff of the Cup Series and look for him to keep that rolling all season long. In Lethbridge, day one, he has a bull named Flick The Switch from X6 Ranch Bucking Bulls and the Carlier family. This one should fit Coy really well. Should be in the gate to the left away from Coy’s hand, one that I have seen Logan Biever make a really good ride on last year. Look for an 85-86-point ride for Coy to kick off night one.
William Barrows vs. Wild Time
This is a young kid from Foremost, Alberta, whose been making a name for himself in the amateur ranks and moving his way up now into the pros. He’s been on the rodeo tour now for a bit, and now moving into the PBRs. I think it’s right where he belongs. He shows a ton of talent, rides really well and looks like he has a great future in this sport. He has a bull named Wild Time of Nansen Vold’s. He’s a bull we’ve seen quite a bit, he’s a grey muley. He’ll blow into the air, around to the left. A lot of action and one that you can get really good scores on. If he has his day, look for William to go 87-88, and a possible round win on this bull.
Nick Tetz vs. Sure Shot
Nick’s looking for redemption after bucking off in Red Deer. He’s been South of the border at the Velocity events and doing really well. Made some really great rides down there. Look for him to have that confidence going into Lethbridge. He has a bull from the Skori’s named Sure Shot. One that all the guys like to get on. He’s a big, red bull that should be right in the gate to the left. Has some suck back to him, a lot of up and down. One that will fit Nick’s riding style really well, look for him to open up. A bull we will be seeing in the short rounds quite a bit. This is the matchup of the night. Nick could get an 87-88 and go for that round win as well.
Brock Radford vs. Red Coat
Brock is as all in on the PBR Canada this season, trying to get that elusive title that has slipped through his grips the last couple of seasons. This is a bull that has bucked him off twice before in Red Coat of the X6 Ranches. But that just means that Brock knows this bull, knows what his attributes are, knows what got him on the ground last time. And don’t look for that to happen again to Brock. I think he has his game put together now. He has been getting on practice bulls and don’t look for this bull to buck him off a third time. This is a great matchup for Brock. The bull could spin either way, but Brock will look to ride him jump-for-jump and do whatever it takes to get the whistle.
Chad Hartman vs. Devils Dues
This bull is in my picks quite often. He is a big, white bull. One that looks like he should ride really well. One that the guys like to get on. He could spin either way. Should have a big look to the left and then around to the right, away from Chad’s hand, but all the timing in the world. Chad’s been South as well, went to some Velocity events. Back home now, look for him to step up here in Lethbridge and show what he is capable of on this bull, 86-87-point score that will set him up good for the second day.
