LONDON, Ontario – After an incredible night in Québec, we’re back on the Monster Energy Tour trail this weekend for the first time since 2016, in London … the Ontario one. Please note, there is no royal baby here.

We’re back with the normal format tonight, 30 guys in Round 1 and 10 in the championship round. A total of 550 Canadian points can be won, with 170 world points set to be awarded to the winner.

We’ve got a great set of guys and the bulls were perfect last week. We even have the World Finals selection Tykro Pound Sand from the Wild Hoggs in that championship round. I’ve said it before, but these are the greatest events in the country and we’re set for another huge night of bull riding. If you’re anywhere in the area, a few tickets remain, if not, you can watch it live on RidePass. There aren’t any excuses at this point!

Shay Marks vs. 403 Hello Darkness

Ridden three times in five outs according to ProBullStats.com, Hello Darkness from Jim Thompson is a black horned bull that spun left really smooth in both videos I watched. Scores have been 84.5 or 85. Shay comes into London in the No. 4 spot in the nation and has drawn a bull that will easily get him back to the championship round if he makes the whistle in the middle.

 

Coy Robbins vs. 214 Original Sin

After winning the 2017 PBR Canada Rookie of the Year title, Coy Robbins sat out for more than a year, from February 2018 until March of this year. Today, he’s in a sophomore slump, currently with only one ride in his past 15 attempts. Original Sin could be a slump buster, but he’s only been ridden four times in 15 outs on record. He was also the bull of the event last May in Halifax, marked 44 points against Matt Triplett in the championship round. 

 

Lonnie West vs. 225 Big Tymer

Big Tymer hasn’t had an out on record in the PBR since last March in Lethbridge but before that he was ridden for three times in 19 outs. Lonnie made his return to competition last week in Québec, going 1-for-2 finishing fifth overall. A white, spotted bull, I like this matchup, even though there haven't been a ton of rides on this bull I see this going Lonnie's way. 

 

Tanner Byrne vs. -413 Black Bath

On record, this bull has been ridden twice in four outs according to ProBullStats.com. Todd Chotowetz rode this Vold Rodeo bull for 84.5 points last June in Fahler, Alberta and then Matt Triplett took him to an 87 at the Ranchman’s PBR in July. Tanner went 1-for-2 in Québec, but I’m betting on 2-for-2 tonight. Chalk up an 85 right now for Mr. Byrne here.

 

Zane Lambert vs. 581 Brain Fart

I don’t know this bull, but I like his name … I think. Zane damn near won last weekend, he was 0.14 seconds away from taking Round 3 in Québec. He’s 7-for-11 since Calgary and the No. 5 man in Canada. I could see this guy being our winner.

 

Cody Casper vs. 21 Hookasarus

This is a rematch from Québec last week and I thought Cody was going to win that matchup. The Wild Hoggs bull was marked 43 points though turning back to the right in a hurry with some added air time. Hookasarus has only been ridden five times in 32 outs, but we’ll see if Cody can change that up. Last time Cody was in Ontario, it was in Ottawa, but he won. Maybe this province will be good to him again?

 

Daylon Swearingen vs. 502 Black Sails

Coming in as one of the youngest guys in the draw, Daylon is the highest ranked man in the World Standings that will be in London. Black Sails has been ridden three times in five outs this year already with scores from 82.5 to 84.5 points. Should be a day off for Daylon, but nothing is given in this sport.

The London event will mark the fifth stop of the 2019 Monster Energy Tour, following the season opener on January 26 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and subsequent stops in Lethbridge and Calgary, Alberta and last week in Québec, Québec.
