Morning Line – Prince Albert – Day 2

PRINCE ALBERT, Saskatchewan -- What a night of bull riding it was on Friday at the Clunie-Cooper Memorial PBR at the Art Hauser Centre. 

Great rides and great bulls. It was impressive to see the likes of Happy Camper, Buck Nasty and Young Trent in Round 1, finish first to third respectively in the ABBI Canada Classic showdown. 

On Saturday, everyone is trying to best Dayton Johnston's 163.5 points on two bulls to take the overall title. Who might it be?

Jared Parsonage vs. 51 Smash

Jared has been a little quiet as of late, which is of no concern to me. I have said it time and time again, Jared is one of the most consistent guys heading down the road and this is a matchup that could get him on a roll. I watched Lonnie West twist this bull last fall at the CPRA Grassroots Finals in Calgary to the tune of about 85 points. Smash is a cool spinner from the Skori family over in Kinsella, Alberta, and he should be right in the gate around to the right. This bull will fit Jared's program perfectly and should have him sitting pretty high heading into the championship round.

Wacey Finkbeiner vs. 124 Tweedle Dee

Wace has to be one of the hottest guys coming into this weekend, he's been riding everything they run under him as of late and this matchup should help keep him rollin'. Wace is another one of the guys who rides great and has an awesome set of mechanics. Tweedle Dee is one of the veteran bulls Nansen has in his pen these days, he is a really solid bull and when they get him rode it is usually for a big score. Tweedle Dee will jump out there a few and be around to the left into Wacey's hand which is a huge advantage for him, look for a big-time score here if he gets it done.

Dayton Johnston vs. 204 Finning Rat Trap

Dayton was one of the breakout rookies in 2017 who showed a ton of promise to be a huge threat on the PBR trail. Once he can find the consistency to be staying on week in and week out he will definitely be a when it is all said and done. Rat Trap comes from the Flying Four crew which just so happens to call Prince Alberta home, so this gives the bull home ice advantage (see what I did there). Rat Trap is a really good long round draw, he should be right there to left and be fairly rider friendly from what I can see. This is a great opportunity for Dayton to potentially place again in this event after taking the lead on Day 1.

Tim Lipsett vs. 216 Big Shot

Ol' Tim has been a bit hot and cold to start off the 2018 season, he has been getting a few rode here and there but just hasn't quite found his stride yet. Lucky for him he has drawn one of the bulls he has rode this season. Timmy and Big Shot hooked up for a score at the Tofield CPRA event a couple weeks ago for 85 points. This will actually be the third time these two have matched up, Tim has the advantage so far by staying on both times he has got on Big Shot. I don't see that changing this weekend!

Lonnie West vs. 141 Deja Voodoo

Lonnie has been off to a pretty decent start to the 2018 season so far, but I definitely think he can take it to another level. Especially after getting a taste of the Unleash the Beast Tour down in Billings two weeks ago. As well as I know Lonnie, he will be frothing at the mouth to get back there after the summer break. Lon is matched up against Deja Voodoo from the crew at Flying Four, this is also another rematch from last season. Lonnie took Deja Voodoo to 86.5 points at the 2017 Marwayne event, which should be close to the score we see this time around!
